Brendon is the founder of Experts Academy, an online course that teaches you how to build wealth by establishing yourself as an expert in your field.

That might sound like a phenomenal success story, but Brendon didn’t always have it easy in life. He was once broke and nearly bankrupt while still trying to make it as an author.

Luckily, Brendon was able to turn his unfortunate condition into a burning desire – and he’s now sharing his strategies for success with the world.

Brendon recently launched his annual enrollment for Experts Academy. The content in the free videos and trainings alone was very revealing, so I will share what I’ve learned in this article. The purpose is so you can use this same strategy to start building your own wealth.

Do you think you’re an expert?

You probably think you can’t build wealth by establishing yourself as an expert. That’s probably due to the reason that you think an expert has to know everything.

Here is a secret Brendon shares: you already are an expert for someone else!

Yes, there are “real” experts such as medical professionals and legal advisors, but what Brendon points to here is that you can be an expert on the topic you are passionate about.

Whether it’s home made cooking or how to train your pets to be smart, there is a talent in you that you can develop even more into an expert status.

From the many talents you have, it’s better to choose one first and focus on that.

One of the keys to success is you have to give time for your ideas to properly manifest. I know it’s easy to get distracted and discouraged and then chase something new – but this is a recipe for failure!

Brendon suggests you focus on a topic for one year and build your authority as an expert in that area. Over time, you will receive more attention from people. It is this attention that you can “capitalize” on and turn into sources of income to build your wealth.

How do I start being an expert?

These are the top 5 tips to build wealth that I’ve condensed from Brendon Burchard’s training videos:

1. What are you already an expert of?

The best way to start is by finding out what you are already good at. Many experts start out because other people kept asking them for help about a certain topic, like how to make organic baby food.

You do need to do some internal work to find:

  1. What you are passionate about
  2. What you are good at
  3. What the market would want to buy

This is an important combination in order for you to turn your expertise into a long term business.

If you don’t think you have any skills, don’t worry: you can be a research expert. This kind of expert simply researches valuable information about a certain topic and then “synthesizes” the information into an easy to digest format

If you think that’s impossible, then remember that Napoleon Hill did exactly that with his international best selling book “Think and Grow Rich”.

2. Be a storyteller

Establish your credibility and create a connection with your audience by using storytelling.

Building wealth involves marketing your expertise to the market, but not everyone is comfortable with “cold” marketing. You can overcome this situation by using “warm” marketing, which is telling your story to the world without having to be a “pushy” seller.

One way to do this is to have an active social presence, both in the real world and online.

Brendon says the first step to increasing your reach is by “stop avoiding the work”. He means that if you really want to build a career as an expert, then create content every day.

Whether it’s writing your thoughts on a book or recording yourself on videos, constant content creation is a strong tactic to help build your experts business.

3. Develop strategies for high performance

The world is looking for “how to” advice. If you can provide the solutions to other people’s problems, then you are already an expert – and you deserve to be paid.

Besides helping other people improve their lives, you must also improve your life by using high performance strategies.

High performance means you maintain a productive schedule and a healthy lifestyle so you are always in your best physical and emotional state to produce content. The world’s highest paid experts are all high performers – from Anthony Robbins to Brian Tracy, to Brendon Burchard himself.

4. Create products to sell

This is where many people have discomfort: they aren’t confident about selling their own products!

I know, because I am suffering from that too. Even so, Brendon says that it is your moral obligation to get your message out there, because you don’t know whose life you could save with the information that is in your possession.

You don’t have to create complicated products. The most important thing is the content is quality and delivers the value according to the promise. You can create simple things from books, to more difficult things such as memberships or full day seminars.

The more content you have as your “back end” the more income you can make; that’s the secret to Brendon’s rapid rise to his first million dollars as an expert

Think of each product as a vehicle for your message. The more vehicles you have out there, the more your message can be heard by the world – and the more wealth you build for yourself.

5. Setup a sales process

After you create the product, you also need a system so people can buy it. This might sound obvious, but unless you start to do it, you won’t realize how difficult it can be to get a smooth system running.

At this point in your expert business, you might want to invite other experts on board. There are people who can help you with the technical issues of ordering and shipping digital and physical products. As a business, it’s best to learn of the choices you have here and invest in the right one for you.

Over time, you want to build a system structure so that the business can run on “auto pilot” without you constantly needing to keep an eye over it.

6. Be self discipline, self confidence, and in a service mindset

This last bonus tip is more “soft skill” than it is “hard skill”.

It goes without saying that the tips here are not brand new or “earth shattering”. These tips you may already know, but are you turning “common sense into common practice”?

That’s what Brendon wants to see: not how much you know, but how much you do of what you know.

I especially agree with Brendon’s opinion on having a mastery mindset: it’s not about the new “shiny” techniques, but the repetition of simple fundamentals that allows a person to achieve mastery.

Being disciplined, being confident, and prioritizing service above others are those fundamentals.
